Chronicle of Zizhou Events in the Han Dynasty Period

In the first year of the Emperor Gaozu (206 BC), Xiang Yu appointed Dong Yi, Qin general, King Di, who proclaimed himself king in Shangjun and governed Gao Nu, with the territory returning to Di; the next winter, Dong Yi descended to Han and the territory belonged to Han.

In the fifth year of Jianyuan period (136 before), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty decreed prisoners who committed capital crimes in county and country to be stationed in Shangjun.

In the fourth year of Yuanshou (119 BC), the Han Dynasty moved 725,000 poor people in the Guandong area to five counties including Shangjun.

In the first year of the founding of Wang Mang (9), Wang Mang claimed himself to be emperor, changed Shangjun to Zengshan, and chaned Yangzhou County to Shanglingchou.

In March of the fifth year of Yongchu (111), he moved to Hanei because Xian Lingqiang invaded Hedong. Emperor Han'an ordered Shangjun to move Ya (Ya, county name, in today's Baishui County). The people loved the land and couldn’t bear to leave. The Han officials mowed their crops, destroyed houses, and forced their migration. Hungry and cold, more than a half people died.

In September of the fourth year of Yongjian (129), Emperor Hanshun decreed the residents of Shangjun to return to the old land and urged the migrants to return to their original places.

In the summer of the first year of Jianning (168), Han general Duanjiong chased Qiang out of Qiaomen to Zoumashui(Zoumashui is the Huaining River today).
